GEM Fishing

GEM FishingGreat Expectations Ministries (GEM) exists to provide quality fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities for metro youth in order to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

GEM conducts eight weeks of fishing camps each summer. Each morning includes a time of praise and worship and Bible studies. Most of the rest of each day is spent in fishing instruction, guided fishing, and team tournaments. Camps are small (12-15 kids per camp), which provides for excellent instruction, supervision, and relationship building.

GEM continues its outreach through fishing and other outdoor activities throughout the year. Devotions and praise and worship are important parts of each monthly outing.

Check out the 2011 camp calendar here.

The Fish-A-Thon: Get Hooked!

The Fish-A-Thon engages kids to serve other kids by raising money to provide resources to the urban community! Since the inception of this program in 2004, youth have raised over $110,000 to be distributed to over 20 organizations serving youth and families in the Twin Cities. Participants choose where the monies raised will be distributed by selecting one or more of our Covenant Partners. Our partners provide Emergency Assistance, Christmas in the City, Summer Camps, Meals for the Homeless, Recovery Services, and Year Round Family Programs in some of the most distressed neighborhoods of the Twin Cities.

For more information about Fish-A-Thon check out the video below!

Fish-A-Thon has expanded its utility and is now available to any organization seeking to use this as a fundraising tool. Please contact Tom Goodrich at 612-987-5466 or tom@fishingforlife.org for more information on this exciting opportunity.

Fish Fair

Fish Fair is a fishing carnival for kids and families.

Participants of all ages race minnows, make lures, practice casting and are educated about all aspects of fishing in our great state. Activities provided education about habitat awareness, fishing tackle, techniques, species identification and fishing opportunities with clubs and camps present at the fair.

This year we will launch the SPORTSMANS’S GARAGE SALE during the fair. We are currently accepting donations of sporting equipment to sell during this event or offering table space to individuals who may enjoy cleaning out their garage while supporting Fishing For Life.

This short 7 minute video below give you a great look at the Fish Fair in action!

Please contact info@fishingforlife.org if you would like to make a donation or have further questions.

Marathon Man

The Marathon Man is an annual one-day event featuring Jeff Kolodzinski. Jeff catches fish for 24 hours in his annual attempt to raise awareness for Fishing For Life programs and to try and break his own World Record for most fish caught from shore with a single pole in one day. This event includes online underwater coverage, head-to-head competition against Jeff during the day and great spectator fun. The Marathon Man has launched efforts throughout the nation to try and best Jeff’s record.

Below is video coverage from the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Marathon Man events.

Many thanks to Lindner Media Productions for production of the Marathon Man 2009 video! Watch it below:

High C’s Adventure

The High C’s Adventure puts the Gospel at the front and center of our fishing related programs by teaching that we are Created, Called, Cleansed and Commissioned. Activities, games, skits and songs are included in this curriculum that uses fishing themes to teach these essential Biblical truths.

We provide custom programming at your church or on the lake for any ministry that wishes to bring their kids into deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”Mathew 4:19
